Today I painted the borders of the canvasses in black. It was quite a simple job and didn't take too long. I think it has finished them off nicely; now I just need to find my gold paint to sort the stars. It isn't in any of the boxes I have access to so it could be at the caravan or more than likely in the garage!
The children also received their letter in the post today with the poem I wrote for them about Lockdown. I will post some photos on here to show the postmark and the card but I am currently having some technical issues with my phone and pictures. I hope to be able to sort this in the next day or two as it is causing me lots of anxiety, particularly being as I have already lost all the photos that were on my other phone from last year. I am still devastated that this has not been fixed or resolved...
This is the poem anyway in case you were looking forward to reading it.
Lockdown Life
Well here we are in 'lockdown', it's been about six weeks,
Our day to day routine has seen a multitude of tweaks,
We started out excited to try doing Joe's P.E
But that soon stopped and now they're downstairs playing on the Wii.
I'm upstairs on You Tube, doing 'Yoga with Adriene',
It leaves me feeling calmer and all set to paint again.
Each day we go out walking, down the road to Pig Leg Lane,
It's lovely in the sunshine and the fresh air soothes my brain.
Our Evelyn digs her heels in, wishing to be left at home
But we always take her with us, how we love to hear her moan!
Finley is quite the contrast, as he runs off down the lane.
His little face lights up each time we see the Island Train.
Photography has fast become the hobby of their choice
But photographing wildlife requires a tiny, little voice!
So far they've caught a Robin, I myself spotted a Jay
But wildflowers seem to be the best, as they can't up and fly away!!
By far the perfect photographs have been the ones we've missed
On days we've wanted to pretend that phones just don't exist!
The children both have weekly charts to earn themselves a treat.
They have to tick off everything; this keeps them quite upbeat
As lockdown can be lonely and home-schooling quite a task.
Little jobs like tidying and helping out is all we ask.
So far they've had Trolls 2 and a Pizza Making Party,
A Baking Bonanza last weekend, but next is something arty!
I think there could be slightly more of schoolwork being done,
But with lockdown so restrictive, it's important to have fun!
So with Theatre Train and singing lessons being done online
Evelyn seems quite happy but Finley will often whine.
Occasionally he'll get a call from his little friend at school,
They talk about their sticker books and what they're missing most of all.
We're doing things now as a four, before the children go to bed.
Board games such as Cluedo, or often cards are picked instead.
'Stop the Bus' and 'Chase the Ace' are proving really good
But tired children never cope with losing like they should!
When lockdown ends I'm sure we'll all feel happier once more,
It's hard to picture life being exactly as it was before.
Now Captain Tom has turned a hundred, he had this to say
"The sun will shine on you again and the clouds will go away."
There will be no more worrying about the weekly shop.
The 'boring' daily updates from the Government will stop.
I'm glad we've clapped the NHS and Keyworkers together
And I'm hoping that these memories will stay with us forever.
