Strange one today. Boris says to avoid visiting your Mum and to Skype or call instead. A florist very aptly reported that people would rather get their mums some loo roll that flowers this year! I noticed in the Park shop yesterday that there were some 4 packs on the shelves but with mine and the ones already at the house I thought it would be unfair to but more. Stockpiling and hoarding are a huge problem, particularly dried pasta and tinned goods. We are okay for most things so we aren't panicking yet which means I enjoyed a more traditional Mother's Day present, a gift box of toiletries, rather than toilet paper!
It's a tricky day for me today because I did my first blog entry on Mother's Day last year. I'm feeling flat again about my failings. I talked to the children about it over dinner. I think they both would have liked the The Forty@40 Project to have worked out because it makes sense in their little heads that way. I'm trying to help them to see that persevering and seeing it through to an end is important anyway, even if it wasn't exactly as planned.
We WhatsApp'd my Mum before the kids went to bed. F showed off his rainbow picture that's in the window and E talked about her current school art project. Probably the most notable thing about this Mother's Day is the fact that due to panic buying our only option for our Sunday roast was Chicken Kievs with lovely roast potatoes and a random selection of vegetables including slightly wrinkled, old carrots, asparagus, baby sweetcorn and mange tout!! Lovely!
