I had a tough start to the day today. My caravan is on a Parkdean site and it has been in the press this week about how unhappy many caravan owners are at the way Parkdean are treating them with regards to the pandemic and lockdown. As far as we are concerned, we have had only minimal contact via email and that has been general emails from Head Office, not personal contact from our own site. The position they have taken is that they will not allow caravan owners access to their vans or the park sites until the Government give them the green light to do so. However, they are still insisting that full pitch fees be paid by owners, despite the fact that owners have been told for two whole months now that they cannot use their properties and potentially another 6 weeks going forwards. This is totally unfair, particularly as some other companies are offering partial refunds of pitch fees or discounted pitch fees for the year ahead. All Parkdean are offering is an extra 10% off food/drink bought on park (which we are obviously unable to make use of currently being as the parks are all closed!!)
I am so anxious about the staff at the park as well because they were quite abrupt on the last occasion that we visited (to collect more clothes for me and other essentials!) We weren't even allowed to drive to the caravan, we had to walk round! But today we were set to go over again because my summer sandals are there (we forgot to grab them last time...oops!) and some art bits that I now need. Despite this trip having been planned for the best part of a week, I just couldn't face it. I felt there would be tension and the possibility of security staff looking 'for a fight' which I simply didn't have the strength for today. Luckily R agreed to go alone and I stayed here with the children. He had no problems gaining access, although he did have to walk round again, leaving the car at Reception.
It was boiling today as well. R got stuck on the way home in roadworks which have recently been given the go-ahead to continue...and my car has no air-conditioning! (We bought it in the winter months so hadn't realised but my goodness, it is unbearable in the summer!) Poor R, it was not the best job for him to take on in this heat but I am so grateful because it was too much for me to even think about today. I know I would have been really sad to see the caravan again, sitting there empty in glorious sunshine with it's sea view and beautiful trees and wildlife all around. I definitely made the right choice to stay away. I couldn't have coped with having my mood brought down any further. I miss being there so much!
I did a few Yoga workouts today to try to help my mood...'Yoga Belly', 'Yoga for Hips', 'Slow your Roll' and 'Bedtime Yoga'.
My feeling is that Parkdean Resorts need to adopt the theme of MHAW 2020 and spread a little kindness. Surely that would be better for business than all the bad press they are getting for being so tight and uncaring.
