International Day of Happiness - 20/03/20 - Spring Equinox

The schools closed at end of day today due to the Coronavirus crisis. This is a week early for the Easter holidays for E but 2 weeks early for F. Both came to the caravan for tea and overnight. Neither of them seem fully aware of the enormity of the situation. They are excited about having no school but have no idea how incredibly unusual it is for the Government to enforce school closures. There is speculation that the schools won't go back until September! No exams this Summer! Poor kids, after all their hard work!

And then this evening the announcement that pubs, bars, theatres etc should close with immediate effect! Very strange to be witnessing this kind of event.

It is all in order to maintain Social Distancing advice that should slow the spread of the virus, help the NHS and save lives. Despite this, multiple families arrived at the Park today for caravan holidays. I am so used to being isolated and living in solitude here so this is anxiety inducing because firstly, I am no longer isolated but secondly these holiday makers have likely travelled from the mainland, ignoring government advice to avoid unnecessary travel. We don't want the virus here! I just wish the ferries would stop running other than for food/medical supplies. I think there should be a rule that no-one comes over and no-one leaves. Simple!

The Equinox should be such a positive time, looking forward to longer, warmer days, pleasant evenings; a chance to really enjoy our beautiful surroundings. Now I'm feeling instantly less confident in my ability to do that due to the rise in people being here! I felt safe and settled here through the winter knowing the park was closed. Today is the re-opening of the Entertainment Complex - I can't wait to swim; I've been so looking forward to getting back into a regular fitness regime! I have waited all winter for the Pool to open and have missed swimming so badly. Let's hope I get to do this in the coming days and weeks, despite the holiday makers. I know Owners are allowed early morning swims ahead of any holiday makers, yay!
