Day 3 of painting - A bit of a learning curve today...in many aspects of the design! I had intended to use a pale green for the flower sections but it turned out to be very bright indeed! I love it though and think it works great with the bright yellow. I mixed it using green and yellow acrylic.
Once dried, I moved onto 2 of the 4 remaining sections. I wanted these to be purple and cautiously mixed some white in with it so as not to have too bright a shade. I do love it, however, my pencil design has now been lost...damn it! Using the fineliner I drew over the flowers on the green sections and desperately tried to see through the purple paint to find the pattern lurking beneath!
Having learnt my lesson, I used a very pale pink from a children's art set for the final parts of the design which meant my pencil marks were still visible. Hooray!
I outlined the wording in fineliner then began painting the details onto the green (i.e flowers and foliage) This was very intricate work but I was delighted to discover that my in-laws had also got me a set of 'Detail' brushes which had much finer points/bristles for this kind of job! Perfect. I am so happy with the results so far and I finished today by painting the detail onto both the pink and purple sections.
