Day 2 of painting - I found my old art box quite easily but unfortunately my Sharpie pens weren't in it. I started out this morning by attempting the lines using Indian ink and a handmade, wooden tool (acquired on my 'Introduction To Art' course) which is supposed to be good for applying inks. It was really tricky on the canvas paper; it just didn't glide! In the end I neatened up the lines using the Fine Liners and this worked fairly well.
My next task was to hand draw the wording from the parking ticket onto baking parchment (I don't have tracing paper but luckily this worked perfectly). I was really happy with my letters so set about tracing them onto the canvas paper, into the alternate spaces which had been painted yellow. This created the effect of the ticket being glimpsed from behind the painting. It was really pleasing to see the vision I'd had taking shape on the paper before me. I jotted down some ideas for the colours I intended to use in the remaining sections of the design before heading out for a walk to get some fresh air and sun rays! It was very strange weather; I set off with blue sky and sunshine but walked home in heavy, drizzly rain, still with full sun ahead and the cars driving past with a covering of icy snow! It was truly bizarre. I was soaked when I got back!
I spent the remainder of the day (until the family got home) drawing detail into the other sections of my design. This was relatively easy although flowers are not necessarily my strong point so I drew some simple shapes in the remaining parts after doing flowers in the first 3 sections. I am looking forward to adding more colour tomorrow.
