Day 1 of painting - Whilst walking to the swimming pool this morning, I was thinking about how I might start my first piece of art for my 'FORTY@40' project. I had already settled on the idea of using my unfortunate Parking Ticket incident from last week as inspiration but I had yet to establish how this would manifest in the artwork other than in the colour palette. Before I had reached the pool I had a vision in my mind of swirled/wavy lines crossing centrally on the page with the Parking Ticket peeking through from behind.

I enjoyed my Water Workout as always and felt positive and energised on the journey home. I couldn't wait to get started and focused on drawing the lines and border first, before mixing yellow acrylics to create the colour synonymous with parking fines. This is the first painting I have done in over 12 months so it was lovely getting back into it, being creative again and using the new paints I had received as a 40th birthday gift from my in-laws. The border was incredibly fiddly to do as I haven't located my old art box yet so I was using the smallest brush I had available which was definitely not as thin as I would have liked. It took a lot of concentration! The hash lines that I have put down the side borders would ideally be done in black Sharpie pen but they too are in my art box so for now I have used a Fine Liner. I am eager to get the central lines marked out in Sharpie as it will instantly bring the image to life. I shall hunt out all my old art supplies tonight, ready for tomorrow.
